Join MLNC for “Map Cataloging: The Basics”

March 6, 2008

This introductory workshop, taught by Susan Moore, Catalog Librarian and Bibliographer, Rod Library, University of Northern Iowa, will help get you started in cataloging maps and other cartographic materials. Emphasis will be on sheet maps with some discussion of atlases.The skills to be taught include title selection, how to measure a map correctly, scale calculation, how to record other mathematical data correctly, and the notes required specifically for cartographic materials.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Daniel Boone Regional Library (Columbia, Missouri) in the Friends Room from 9:30am-3:30pm.

New database demonstrations

MLNC is pleased to offer several Database Demonstrations this coming spring. Oxford University Press will demonstrate their new Encyclopedia of Popular Music and Islamic Studies Center as well as present an overview of all their products, including several new updates.

CAMIO is a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world, while ArchiveGrid is an important destination for searching for historical documents, personal papers and family histories held in archives throughout the world.
